Surfing El SalvadorThere are basically two surf areas:

La Libertad:
La Libertad is the most consistent and classic area, featuring El Salvador´s best Break: Punta Roca, which is considered one of the best waves in the continent. La Libertad means freedom in Spanish and it is El Salvador’s heart of surfing with El Tunco growing as a genuine surf town. This area offers numerous breaks and diversity.

Wild East:
The “Wild East,” is El Salvador´s new surfing frontier with pristine and beautiful places. Offering world-class breaks, it is an excellent complement for your surf trip to El Salvador

There are basically two surfing seasons:

El Salvador Surf Dry Season:
The dry season starts on November and lasts until April. Conditions are typically offshore winds, sunny skies and small surf. Wave sizes average chest to head high during the dry season, but ocassional big swells roll in with excellent conditions

El Salvador Surf Wet Season:
The rainy season starts on May and lasts until October. During the wet season, consistent storms in Antartica and off the coast of New Zealand provide large swells to El Salvador´s coastline. The weather is typically partially sunny in the morning and rains in the afternoons and during the night. Wave sizes average head high to overhead during the rwet season. Conditions are usually glassy mornings and onshore winds beginning in the late morning.

During most of the year, mornings and late afternoons usually have sunny skies and perfect peeling surf.

El Salvador has miles of coastline riddled with points, rivermouths and beach breaks.

Year-round the water temperature is between 80 and 85 degrees; air is in the 80’s and low 90’s.
